Devlog 3: Logic Defense: Strategic TD

Hello everyone! We have reached a massive milestone in our development journey, and we are excited to share some big news regarding Logic Defense: Strategic TD.

The Road to v0.9 and Itch.io

We are officially operating on version 0.9, which means the game is incredibly close to its final launch. To celebrate this progress, our official itch.io page is now live!

You can head over to the itch.io right now to test the demo or, even better, join our Closed Beta. As a special thank you, every player who joins the closed beta and installs the game will have their name immortalized in the Wall of Fame section within the game's Credits.

Economy and System Overhaul

We have spent a lot of time listening to your feedback to make the gameplay feel more balanced and satisfying:

  • Improved Economy and HintCoins: The in-game economy and HintCoin systems have been completely overhauled and improved to be much more rewarding as you progress.

  • Settings Menu: A comprehensive settings menu has been added. You can now toggle music and sound effects, adjust graphics quality, and switch between different languages to suit your preference.

  • Intro Animation: The game’s opening sequence has been redesigned and is now buttery smooth.

  • Mini-Tutorials: We have added mini-tutorials to specific levels to help players master the core mechanics and improve their strategic approach as they play.

Visual Polish and a Living World

We want the world of Logic Defense to feel active and immersive, so we’ve introduced several visual upgrades:

  • Dynamic Projectiles: Arrows now scale in size based on the specific tower that fires them, providing better visual feedback for your defensive power.

  • Vibrant Map: The level selection map is now more alive than ever. We’ve added roaming animals and hidden mysteries for you to discover as you navigate the different regions.

  • Major Bug Fixes: We have resolved several critical issues, most notably the bug where tower damage did not correctly decrease when placed within the range of another tower. With these fixes, the game is technically almost ready for the public.

Premium Version and Accessibility

We have simplified how you can access the full experience. To ensure a seamless save system between the free and premium versions and to make your access much easier, the Premium version is no longer a separate application; it is now available as an in-game purchase. We have kept the price very low and implemented localized pricing for over 20 countries to ensure that players everywhere can enjoy the full game at a fair price.

Thank You for Your Support

Logic Defense: Strategic TD wouldn't be where it is today without this community. Thank you for your continued support and feedback. We invite you all to visit our itch.io page, try the demo, and join the beta to get your name on the Wall of Fame!

Devlog 2: Logic Defense: Strategic TD

Devlog 2: Logic Defense: Strategic TD

Devlog 2: Logic Defense: Strategic TD

Welcome back to the latest update on the development journey of Logic Defense: Strategic TD. We have made significant strides in defining the core mechanics and polishing the world to ensure every tactical decision counts.

A New Approach to Versioning

We have completely overhauled our version numbering system to prevent the project from feeling stagnant, to make specific builds more memorable, and to streamline our overall development speed. This new structure allows us to track milestones more effectively as we move toward the final release.

So, we are now officially at our latest version, 0.8.5. This version marks a major leap in bringing all our polished systems together into a single, cohesive experience. It represents our commitment to maintaining a steady development pace while ensuring each update adds significant value to the player experience.

Rebranding and The New Logo

Along with the version update, we’ve officially rebranded to Logic Defense: Strategic Puzzle TD. This name better reflects the core gameplay loop where every placement is a logical step in a larger defensive puzzle. To match this shift, we’ve introduced a new logo that captures the strategic spirit of the game.

You can check out the new look below:

Deep Dive: Towers and Tactical Placement

The towers are the backbone of your defense, and understanding their technical specifications is key to mastering the game.

  • Standard Tower Statistics:

    • Fire Rate: 2.5

    • Damage: 10

    • Range: 15

A major strategic element introduced recently is the Interference Penalty: if you place a tower within the active range of another, the newly placed tower's damage output will decrease. This forces players to think critically about spacing rather than just clustering units.

Normal Tower vs. Fast Tower

The introduction of the Fast Tower adds a new layer to your strategy.

  • Normal Tower: Balanced damage and fire rate; reliable for most waves.

  • Fast Tower: High fire rate, ideal for chipping away at multiple targets, but may lack the raw stopping power of standard units.

Finding the right balance between these two is essential for solving the defensive "puzzle" of each level. More specialized towers will be revealed as you progress through the game to keep the experience fresh without spoiling the surprises.

Deep Dive: Enemy Intelligence

The enemies in Logic Defense are not just mindless sprites; they follow specific logic to navigate your defenses.

  • Enemy Statistics:

    • Normal Enemy Speed: 2.5

    • Health: 100

  • Normal Enemy vs. Fast Enemy:

    • Normal Enemy: Standard health and speed; the baseline for your defense.

    • Fast Enemy: Lower health but significantly higher movement speed, designed to test the reaction time of your tower placement.

As you reach higher levels, you will encounter brand-new enemy types with unique behaviors that will require you to adapt your established strategies.

World Map and Usability

The world map has undergone a massive visual and functional transformation. It is now more beautiful and intuitive, serving as a clearer guide through the Island, Meadows, and Mountains. We have added animated elements like ships to make the map feel like a living part of the game rather than a static menu.

Bonus: Then vs. Now

It is amazing to see how far we've come since the project's inception. Below is a side-by-side look at the project's journey from the very first prototypes to the polished, tactical state of v0.8.5.

Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of this journey. We can't wait to see what future versions will look like!

REBRANDING ANNOUNCEMENT: From Towers of Defence to Logic Defense: Strategic TD

REBRANDING ANNOUNCEMENT: From Towers of Defence to Logic Defense: Strategic TD

REBRANDING ANNOUNCEMENT: From Towers of Defence to Logic Defense: Strategic TD

Hello everyone! We have a major update to share regarding the future of our project. As we continue to refine the game, we have decided to move forward with a new title that better represents our vision: Logic Defense: Strategic TD.

The Vision Behind the Rebrand

This change is a strategic move aimed at growing our community and reaching a wider audience. While our previous title served us well during the early stages, Logic Defense: Strategic Puzzle TD captures the true essence of the gameplay. We believe this name will resonate more with players who enjoy the deep, puzzle-like challenges of managing defenses and environmental obstacles. It clearly communicates that every decision in the game is a logical step toward success.

A Living, Breathing World

The development process is progressing incredibly well, and we are currently operating on version v0.5.4.4.4. The game has reached a state where the world feels much more immersive and active.

  • A Living World: The three distinct regions—the Island, Meadows, and Mountains—now feel significantly more alive. The interactions and events occurring across the map are designed to be engaging and are truly worth watching as you navigate the world.

  • Dynamic Map Animations: We have introduced new animations that breathe life into the map regions, ensuring that the environment feels responsive and energetic.

UI and Visual Updates

In this latest version, we have focused on enhancing the user experience through thoughtful additions rather than a total overhaul.

  • Quality of Life (QoL) Enhancements: We have integrated various QoL elements to make navigation and gameplay smoother for the player.

  • New UI Components: New interface elements have been added to provide better feedback and control.

  • Fluid Animations: From the UI menus to the map regions, we have implemented a range of new animations to ensure a more polished and modern feel throughout the game.

New Logo and Future Identity

The logo featured in this announcement is our current mobile store icon. We want to inform you that a completely new, official logo for Logic Defense: Strategic TD is currently in development. We are putting a lot of care into this new brand identity to ensure it matches the strategic quality of the gameplay.

We will be showcasing the new official logo and sharing further gameplay details in an upcoming devlog very soon.

Devlog 1: Logic Defense: Strategic TD

Devlog 1: Logic Defense: Strategic TD

Devlog 1: Logic Defense: Strategic TD

Hey everyone! We are hard at work on Logic Defense, and we’re excited to share where the game stands right now. We have been moving through several internal builds, currently reaching v0.5.4.2, and our main focus is making the core gameplay feel solid and fun.

World and Content

The game currently features three regions: the Island, the Meadows, and the Mountains. As you progress through the map, you’ll encounter various landmarks—some are small villages, while others are different strategic points along your journey. We are planning to expand this world with new regions in future updates.

Your main objective is simple and classic: stop the enemies from reaching your base. Right now, there are three different types of goblins you’ll need to defend against. While we are currently focused on these core enemies, we plan to introduce more variety and new enemy types as we add more levels to the game.

Gameplay and Mechanics

Logic Defense is all about strategy and how you manage your defenses. The core gameplay involves building towers along winding paths to stop incoming waves of goblins. A major part of the strategy involves dealing with the environment; obstacles like trees and stones block your line of sight, meaning your units cannot fire through them.

Furthermore, towers themselves act as physical objects. If a tower is placed directly in front of another tower’s field of view, the tower in the back will not be able to see or target the enemies. You must also navigate terrain constraints, as certain areas like water or rocky ground do not allow for tower placement. This forces you to plan your layout much more carefully to ensure every unit has a clear line of fire. Success depends on selecting the right variety of towers and positioning them strategically, as different tower types must be utilized effectively depending on the specific enemy types and the quantity of the incoming waves. The gameplay is also deterministic, meaning enemies and towers will always behave consistently, allowing you to perfect your strategy for each level.

Take a look at these latest captures from our current development build, showcasing the progress we've made on the UI, map design, and combat mechanics:

The world map showing the first region (Island) with paths and various landmarks.
Some levels:

These screenshots were taken in the alpha version 0.5.4.2 (0.7.4.2 in new version system) of the game. The visuals and interface will be improved in later stages of development.

Detailed: Logic Defense: Strategic TD

Detailed: Logic Defense: Strategic TD

Detailed: Logic Defense: Strategic TD

Logic Defense is a "puzzle-first" tower defense game designed for quick, strategic, and challenging mobile sessions. This isn't a game of grinding or endless upgrades; it's a game of intellect.

Each level presents you with a unique puzzle: a fixed enemy path, a limited set of available turrets, and specific placement slots. The goal is not just to survive, but to find the single best strategy to win. It’s a pure, brain-teasing strategy experience.

Key Features

  • The Puzzle-Box Approach: Forget building a massive maze. Each level is a handcrafted challenge with a limited number of towers. You must analyze the enemy path and turret types to find the perfect, optimal placement to clear the stage.

  • Fast-Paced, Bite-Sized Levels: Designed for mobile play. Jump into a level, solve the puzzle, and feel the satisfaction of victory in minutes.

  • Constant Strategic Evolution: The challenge is always growing.

    • New Turrets: A new, unique turret is unlocked every few levels, forcing you to rethink your old strategies.

    • New Enemies: Every 10 levels, new enemy types with special abilities (e.g., healers, sprinters, armored) are introduced.

    • Map Growth: As you progress, maps become larger and more complex, offering new strategic challenges.

  • A World to Conquer: Progress through a classic, linear level map, conquering one stage at a time. Every 10 levels, you will advance to a new, distinct region (e.g., deserts, frozen tundra, volcanic wastes) with its own visual theme.

  • The Monthly Gauntlet: For the true masters. These are ultra-challenging, multi-stage monthly levels (e.g., a difficult 10-level series) designed to push your strategic mind to its absolute limit.
