Devlog 2: Logic Defense: Strategic TD
A fast-paced, minimalist tower defense game where every level is a puzzle, and every placement matters.
Welcome back to the latest update on the development journey of Logic Defense: Strategic TD. We have made significant strides in defining the core mechanics and polishing the world to ensure every tactical decision counts.
A New Approach to Versioning
We have completely overhauled our version numbering system to prevent the project from feeling stagnant, to make specific builds more memorable, and to streamline our overall development speed. This new structure allows us to track milestones more effectively as we move toward the final release.
So, we are now officially at our latest version, 0.8.5. This version marks a major leap in bringing all our polished systems together into a single, cohesive experience. It represents our commitment to maintaining a steady development pace while ensuring each update adds significant value to the player experience.
Rebranding and The New Logo
Along with the version update, we’ve officially rebranded to Logic Defense: Strategic Puzzle TD. This name better reflects the core gameplay loop where every placement is a logical step in a larger defensive puzzle. To match this shift, we’ve introduced a new logo that captures the strategic spirit of the game.
You can check out the new look below:

Deep Dive: Towers and Tactical Placement
The towers are the backbone of your defense, and understanding their technical specifications is key to mastering the game.
Standard Tower Statistics:
Fire Rate: 2.5
Damage: 10
Range: 15
A major strategic element introduced recently is the Interference Penalty: if you place a tower within the active range of another, the newly placed tower's damage output will decrease. This forces players to think critically about spacing rather than just clustering units.
Normal Tower vs. Fast Tower
The introduction of the Fast Tower adds a new layer to your strategy.
Normal Tower: Balanced damage and fire rate; reliable for most waves.
Fast Tower: High fire rate, ideal for chipping away at multiple targets, but may lack the raw stopping power of standard units.
Finding the right balance between these two is essential for solving the defensive "puzzle" of each level. More specialized towers will be revealed as you progress through the game to keep the experience fresh without spoiling the surprises.
Deep Dive: Enemy Intelligence
The enemies in Logic Defense are not just mindless sprites; they follow specific logic to navigate your defenses.
Enemy Statistics:
Normal Enemy Speed: 2.5
Health: 100
Normal Enemy vs. Fast Enemy:
Normal Enemy: Standard health and speed; the baseline for your defense.
Fast Enemy: Lower health but significantly higher movement speed, designed to test the reaction time of your tower placement.
As you reach higher levels, you will encounter brand-new enemy types with unique behaviors that will require you to adapt your established strategies.
World Map and Usability
The world map has undergone a massive visual and functional transformation. It is now more beautiful and intuitive, serving as a clearer guide through the Island, Meadows, and Mountains. We have added animated elements like ships to make the map feel like a living part of the game rather than a static menu.

Bonus: Then vs. Now
It is amazing to see how far we've come since the project's inception. Below is a side-by-side look at the project's journey from the very first prototypes to the polished, tactical state of v0.8.5.

Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of this journey. We can't wait to see what future versions will look like!
